A women-led non-partisan, non-profit organization working since 2013 to empower communities and support local solutions across South Sudan.
CIDO was formed by a group of female youth and women living in a Protection of Civilian site in South Sudan following the 2013 political crisis — a conflict that killed over one million people and displaced more than five million.
These women sat together, pondered the scenarios around them and desired change. Formally registered in 2016, CIDO now operates across 5 states providing both humanitarian and developmental interventions to vulnerable South Sudanese, including returnees and refugees.
Every decision is guided by the needs and dignity of the communities we serve.
Founded by women, led by women — advancing gender equality at every level.
Dedicated to safeguarding vulnerable populations, especially children and women.
Harnessing community resources to generate sustainable, home-grown solutions.
The principles that guide every decision, programme, and partnership CIDO undertakes.
To mobilize and organize communities to harness their resources, plan effectively and generate solutions for socio-economic advancement.
A society that is free, just, peaceful and economically advanced — with a focus on human rights advocacy, protection, and women's empowerment.
Dedicated professionals committed to making a measurable difference in South Sudan every day.
